The secret to the deliciousness of Kame-chan Mikan Oranges
It’s our unique, intensive cultivation method. “Carefully preparing the soil,” “not using herbicides” and “adjusting when the fertilizer is used.” We take particular care in preparing the soil. We add bacillus subtilis natto to fallen leaves and reeds collected from the mountains of Osaki-Kamijima and let them decompose, encouraging nutrient uptake from the roots. Plus, bacillus subtilis natto is said to inhibit pathogen growth, and to activate the natural bacteria that boost mikan orange growth.
Introducing Osaki-Kamijima
Osaki-Kamijima is a remote island of Hiroshima Prefecture in the center of the Seto Inland Sea. The warm temperatures and abundant sunlight on the mountain slopes offer the ideal environment for
growing mikan oranges. Please taste the delicious flavors of the mikan oranges grown with joyful energy on this island.

Kodama Mikan Oranges (small mikan oranges)
In Japan, everyone knows that smaller mikan oranges are more delicious. Actually, the amount of sugar in a mikan orange is determined while the fruit is still small. And even when the fruit grows larger, the amount of sugar doesn’t increase. So, if the amount of sugar is fixed like this, smaller fruit naturally tend to have a higher concentration of sugar relative to their size, making them taste sweeter.
Please enjoy the sweetness and richness.
